Steps to follow:

1

For both domestic and international flights the weight of hand luggage ranges from 8 to 10 kilos per passenger. You also need to consider that airlines quite often change their limits regarding the dimensions of hand luggage. It must be suitable for fitting into the overhead compartment in the cabin.

2

For domestic flights, you can normally travel with a suitcase that weights up to 20 kilos in economy class, while in first class it can weigh up to 30 kilos.

3

Everything depends on the airline for international flights. In general, the regulations are often similar, with two suitcases up to 23 kilos each in economy class, as well as a hand luggage, although some countries such as Brazil have their own rules. Some other airlines only allow one 30kg suitcase per person.

4

If you travel with a low cost airline, remember that only hand luggage is included in the fare. Checked hold luggage must be paid for separately. Low cost airlines are normally very strict with regards to weight and size limits. They will weigh your hand baggage and measure it before boarding, so make sure you comply with their policies to avoid delays and extra fees. In general these airlines are good for short trips when you're only travelling for a few days.

5

When your suitcase weighs 1 or 2 kilos more, companies often let it go, but everything depends on the member of check-in staff when it comes to checking your bags in. Likewise, each company has their own excess baggage rates, which are not usually less than £45 per suitcase.
