Steps to follow:
1

The first thing you need to do to make a campfire is to dig a hole. It should be large enough to cover the fire and remember that the hole must be away from any trees, camping grounds, buildings, etc.

2

To ensure that the fire will be safe, set rocks around the campfire. This will impede the fire discontrolling and becoming bigger.

3

In the centre of the hole put two logs or pieces of wood in parallel. These will be the base of the structure that will form the fire. Take a look at our article on how to start a fire without wood if you haven't got any.

4

After place a pile of tinder which can be wood chips, logs, moss, newspapers... With all these materials, you will light the fire.

5

Above the tinder put some dry chips i.e., small sticks. Let them rest at an angle on the wood and then place another stack of chips, leaving room to light the fire. You must repeat the process until you see the pile reaches up to your knees.

6

Around the fire place large pieces of wood vertically and make a tent with the logs. Within this structure you will get enclose the pile of tinder and kindling that you've created.

7

Light the fire. You can light a match and throw it in the middle of the structure, but be careful and try not to pull or knock over the structure. Once the match has started a small fire, you should blow gently to stoke the flames. The fire will gradually become bigger and you'll be able to enjoy the warmth of your fire safely!

8

To stop the fire you'll have to leave it burn until nothing is left. This is the safest way of extinguishing it.
